In summer, the Southern Alps provide an exceptional playground, whether on the water, in the air or on the ground! Lake Serre-Ponçon, located near the hotel, is France’s largest artificial lake and is also one of its most spectacular. Held back by the largest earth dam in Europe, this extraordinary lake is the dream destination for anyone who loves aquatic sports, swimming or sunbathing. Some of its beaches have been given the “Pavillon Bleu” award for their cleanliness, such as Savin’Plage, only 5 minutes’ drive from the hotel. These, along with its wild creeks, 80 km of shore and mountain environment, make Serre-Ponçon a pure paradise of nature. Enjoy sailing, windsurfing, water skiing, wake boarding, kite surfing, stand-up paddling, rowing, canoeing/kayaking, tubing, inflatables, fishing and boat rides.
For those who prefer white water activities, the Durance and Ubaye, the two rivers that feed the lake, offer wild and refreshing experiences such as rafting, hydrospeeding, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, canyoning, via ferrata and rock climbing.
You can also do other wild activities alongside fully qualified instructors in paragliding, gliding, bungee jumping, zip-wiring and hydroplane piloting.
More than anything else, the Hautes-Alpes are a must-see for bike touring and mountain biking. The resort of Orres, 20 minutes from our hotel, is renowned for its bike park at an altitude between 1600 and 2600 m, ideal for experts and beginners alike. Indeed, the site allows bikers to train at one of the best bike parks in the Alps, and it’s also ideal for families who wish to go riding through the woods. Feel free to contact us to find out about the trips or mountain bike/electric mountain bike courses in Embrun and the Orres area (preferential rates in partnership with Alpes 2 Roues and Horizons tout terrain).
Finally, take the time to appreciate nature in the Hautes-Alpes by walking through the Orres area or the Queyras and Écrins parks. The Écrins National Park has a website and mobile app that will allow you to organise your trips from more than 100 routes presented with text and pictures by the park’s rangers.
